Have a feature outline to take to draft? Or a draft that needs to be rewritten? Maybe you’ve taken our Feature Development Lab class and want deadlines and feedback as you head into the draft?
Feature Draft Intensive is a structured 4 session class designed for screenwriters who have a completed outline and are ready to write their draft. It will help you get that unfinished project written and polished while reviewing Core Structure and other key elements as well as focus on tools.
It begins with a pre-class prep week in which writers hand in their outline and read a comedy or drama script chosen by the screenwriting instructor. In Week One writers receive notes on their outlines from their peers and the instructor. In Weeks Two and Three, they receive notes on the first and second halves of their scripts.
Though this is not a rewrite class, there will be revising and retooling of story and key elements.
Classes Include: Deepening Emotional Moments / Amping up Stakes/Conflict / Character Relationship Progression / Charting your Character’s Transformational Arc / Illustrating Themes
Required: Feature Development Lab or equivalent experience.
Testimonial: “Phillip is very knowledgeable about the movie business and is open and willing to share his experiences. Two of the things that I most enjoy are: His openness and availability for answering questions during and after class. He goes above and beyond in providing insightful and detailed feedback which offers a different perspective.” —Peter Brabson

INSTRUCTOR DISCLAIMER: Since all of Script Anatomy’s instructors are working writers, opportunities sometimes arise in their careers that prohibit them from teaching. Change of instructor doesn’t qualify you, the student, a refund. By paying and signing up for this class you are acknowledging and agreeing that the original instructor of this class may change before the class begins.
AI USE POLICY: Script Anatomy is a craft-based screenwriting program. Our work here is built on the belief that writing is a skill developed through practice, feedback, and revision, not something that can be outsourced.
Your own material: While we know some writers use AI tools for researching and brainstorming, we ask that the scripts and pages you bring to class represent your own writing and creative decisions. Using AI tools to generate scenes, dialogue, or structure in place of your own work undermines the purpose of the program and is highly discouraged.
Other writers’ material: As a reminder, everything shared in this room, scripts, pitches, and personal shares, falls under the “cone of silence” category and is also considered someone’s original work and IP (intellectual property). Please don’t run anyone else’s material through ChatGPT, Claude, Sudowrite, or any other AI tool. Writers in this industry are understandably protective of their work, and we treat that seriously.
Please note, our classes are for individuals aged 18 and older.
