Pilot Pitch Lab
Apr 23 to Jun 4 — Sundays, 10:00am-1:00pm (PDT)
Instructor: Kevin Townsley
So you’ve finessed your script. Now what? It’s time to sell it. Meaning… it’s time to craft a killer pitch. You’ll learn how it’s done, and by the end, you’ll be pitching your pilot to the class.
This 4 session intensive class will give you the tools, insight and hands-on experience to successfully pitch your show. It’s also a great way to develop your project.
Pitching and writing are very different skill sets. You will learn all the rudiments of pitching— how to reverse engineer your idea into a written and verbal pitch, how to hook and engage your audience from the get-go, tricks for memorizing and what to expect in the room. You’ll watch Kevin pitch a project he is going out with this season. Then you’ll have the invaluable experience of pitching your own TV show to the class and receiving feedback.
TESTIMONIAL: “The Pitch Lab is invaluable! I tell all of my fellow writer friends about it. Not only did I learn the ins and outs of developing, crafting, and delivering a captivating pitch, I also received a crash course in the business behind pitching – from PODs to If Come deals. Anyone who is interested in selling something, being better in the room, or articulating their work should take this lab.” – Felicia Pride, TV & Film Writer, Writer on OWN’s QUEEN SUGAR & ABC’s GREY’S ANATOMY, 2016 Film Independent Screenwriting Lab Fellow, 2017 NBC Writers On The Verge Fellowship
