TV Spec & Pilot Draft Intensive
Apr 18 to May 16 — Tuesdays, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (PDT)
Instructor: Rose Surnow
Have an outline for a TV spec script or pilot that you want to take to draft? Or a draft that needs to be rewritten? Maybe you’ve taken our Televisionary class and want deadlines and feedback as you head into the draft?
The TV Spec/Pilot Draft Intensive is a structured 3 session class designed for writers who have a completed script outline and are ready to write their draft. You will get that unfinished project written and polished while reviewing core structure and other key elements.
It begins with a pre-class prep week in which you hand in your outline and read a comedy or drama script chosen by the instructor. In Week One you receive notes on your outlines from your peers and the instructor. In Weeks Two and Three, you receive notes on the first and second halves of your scripts, while reviewing core elements like structure, dynamic relationships and so on.
If you have a draft that needs to be rewritten, or you just want deadlines and feedback as you head into draft, this course will help. You’ll get that unfinished project written and polished while reviewing core structure and other key elements.

Testimonial: “I took the TV Spec Lab class with Rose last January to write a Drama Spec for the fellowships, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Rose is such a fantastic writer and teacher. She helped me write a full working draft in very little time, supporting my vision and voice. Her notes were always on point, and they helped me improve my Spec and my writing as a whole. It was amazing to watch her pitch witty story fixes and simply be a great human. I will take all this class’s teachings with me on my career journey, hoping to share the same writers’ room with Rose one day. As I’ve been saying to everybody ever since the class, I want to be Rose Surnow when I grow up.” — Matteo Mascanzoni
