Lamar Woods

From music to comedy to New Girl on FOX, Lamar Woods has carved an original path.

Lamar Woods

He grew up in Atlanta as a musician. And it was for music that he moved to LA with his director friend Weldon, not long after graduating in Religious Studies at Georgia State. But it was comedy that offered the better opportunities. He and Weldon created a sketch comedy website called Northside Comedy accumulating over 1.5 million views online. Lamar then took sketch and improv classes at Upright Citizens Brigade in East Hollywood, and made a name for himself in the LA comedy scene.

In 2014 Lamar was hired to be a staff writer on Lebron James’ first tv show, Survivor’s Remorse (Starz). It was from there that he got hired to write on New Girl (FOX) where he learned sitcom structure and the relentless art of joke pitching.

Since then, Lamar has produced and starred in his own independent film, It’s A Party. The comedy feature premiered on Showtime and is currently available on Apple and Amazon. Lamar’s writing credits also include, Single Parents (ABC), Brooklyn 99 (NBC), and more recently Grand Crew (NBC).

Lamar has also sold three pilots for development with studios such as FX, DISNEY, and UNIVERSAL TELEVISION.

He is repped by WME. You can find him @prophmatic on IG.
