Jay and his writer partner Alex Raiman have recently partnered with John McNamara (Trumbo) to develop an hour-long alien arrival series.
After double-majoring in Film Studies and English from Tulane University Jay spent a semester studying abroad at the prestigious FAMU film school in Prague, where he directed a short film shot on 16mm and met his writing partner, Alex Raiman.
Jay and Alex moved to Los Angeles in 2012 and hustled—working for various film and television writers, agents, producers, and showrunners including producer/showrunner John McNamara on Aquarius (NBC) starring David Duchovny, Trumbo starring Bryan Cranston, and The Magicians (SYFY).
During this time, Jay and Alex wrote a spec feature about an infamous suicide cliff in Australia, and Jay also wrote and directed a short crime thriller called Double Take starring Adrian Pasdar and David James Elliot, which he produced with Alex and which was selected for multiple international film festivals.
Jay and Alex were then hired as writers on The Magicians, where they scripted episodes for Seasons 3, 4, and 5 under the mentorship of showrunners Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, and John McNamara.
Since then, Jay and Alex have created a historical drama series in partnership with TIME Magazine based on their annual Person of the Year issue. Their pilot and first season follows Harry Truman in 1945, and they are currently developing the series with Likely Story and Sugar23.
Most recently, Jay and Alex have partnered with John McNamara to develop an hour-long alien arrival series with an unexpected twist called The Ambassador.
