Ian Sobel has sold 5 shows. Recently a writer and Co-Executive Producer on SNOWPIERCER (AMC), he has also written for Marvel’s HELSTROM (Hulu), SIREN (Freeform), 911 (Fox), 12 MONKEYS (SyFy) and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (Netflix).
Hailing from St. Louis, Ian is always looking for ways to explore the seedy underbelly of midwest Suburbia.
He got his start in Los Angeles as a production assistant for commercials and music videos before becoming an assistant to a writer-producer on a couple of bad-ass action shows. That same writer then hired him on his first staff gig at the same time he sold his first pilot script. It was an overnight success story that took ten years.
Ian was most recently a writer and Co-Executive Producer on SNOWPIERCER (AMC). Previously, he was staffed on Marvel’s HELSTROM (Hulu), SIREN (Freeform) and has also written on 911 (Fox), 12 MONKEYS (SyFy) and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (Netflix).
He co-created the series HARVEST for SpikeTV with Warner Horizon and Jerry Bruckheimer producing, and has developed projects with producers including Alloy Entertainment, Berlanti Productions, and Blumhouse, among many others.
A graduate of Emerson College, when he isn’t writing or trying to explain to his mom what exactly it is he does for a living, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and his forensic psychologist wife, who both teach him a great deal about psychopathic behavior.
