Eva Gonzalez Szigriszt

Eva is a Spanish screenwriter with a taste for sci-fi, horror and fantasy. She’s also a practitioner of Bujinkan Budo Ninjutsu ie. she’s an actual ninja (but don’t tell anyone).

Eva Gonzalez SzigrisztEva grew up in Spain in a family of artists. Her parents were musicians, and her grandfather was a TV and theater director. Her career also began in theater, like her grandfather, until ultimately she turned to film and TV and moved to L.A. where she studied filmmaking at the Los Angeles New York Film Academy campus.

Today, Eva is a Spanish genre writer working in both TV and film, live action and animation, specialized in lore and mythology rooted in History. She is now a writer for Roland Emmerich’s & Robert Rodat’s epic ‘blood & sandals’ TV series THOSE ABOUT TO DIE for Peocock TV. She is now developing secret spin off TV show for NETFLIX of one of their biggest originals, and has been part of the development writing team of another top secret NETFLIX spin off TV series. Her newest live action medieval psychological thriller BRUJA just attached one of most notable showrunners in Spain, Curro Royo (Amazon Prime’s HERNÁN). The show just sold to ENDEMOL SHINE USA.

Eva has also created and is Executive Producing a sci-fi horror show (the project is still under wraps) adapted from an indie comic book series, with Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch Project, Yellowjackets) on board as director and Co-Ep. She is also writing with Pirates of the Caribbean and Collateral writer, Stuart Bettie, a feature adaptation of a well known fantasy adventure board game. Eva developed and wrote the LatinX animated horror TV show, WOMAN IN THE BOOK for Crypt TV, released on Facebook Watch.

Eva’s psychological thriller TURN, which made The Tracking Board’s Hit List in 2019 as one of the best specs to hit the market that year, just attached Spanish A-list actors Sergio Peris-Mencheta (The Meg 2SnowfallRambo: Last Blood) and Oscar Jaenada (The Losers, The Shallows, Rambo: Last Blood). Eva wrote the script, is co-producing with Lynette Coll (David Lynch’s The Happy Worker, Steven Soderbergh’s Perfect) and is set to direct the film alongside Brazilian director Vicente Amorim (NETFLIX’s SantoThe Division, Yakuza Princess).

Testimonials

My experience with Eva was excellent and I learned a lot.  Her professionalism and in-depth knowledge of writing for TV helped me to finish writing my pilot and also improve my writing skills. Eva is the most selfless instructor I’ve ever had and she is committed to helping students succeed.  She’s very honest about how to improve your story and will help you understand how to apply the Script Anatomy tools so that it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

I signed up for Eva’s class in order to draft a spec script for fellowship applications, and I thought Eva would be a great fit because of her experience in genres like sci-fi and fantasy. I was right! Her sense of humor was really helpful in honing the ideas and jokes in my script. She was super encouraging while still being clear about where I could find improvements. Eva also fostered a safe environment where everyone was able to contribute ideas to each other’s work, so I was able to get lots of great input from my classmates. A great instructor!
