Anna Thorup

A self-proclaimed “indoor kid,” Anna Thorup spent the majority of her North Carolina childhood in front of the TV. Which her parents felt guilty about until she started making money writing television.

Anna Thorup

At fourteen-years-old, her ambition to work in the industry was cemented when she was awarded a Make-A-Wish Trip to visit the set of THE OFFICE (on a Reddit thread about said trip strangers still speculate whether or not she’s dead now). She attended Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Writing for Film & TV, completing an internship at Skydance TV in the process.

Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles where she accepted a variety of support staff positions — working as a Reader and Script Coverage writer, a Coordinator on DreamWorks Animation’s ABOMINABLE, a Creative Assistant for Netflix, and a Writer’s Assistant on BEST FOOT FORWARD (Apple) — before diving into writing full-time.

Since taking the plunge, she has written on several unannounced, animated shows for various streamers. In 2021, she sold and developed an original live-action comedy pilot with ABC and is currently in development on her first comedy feature.

She is repped at the Cartel. You can find her on Instagram at @annathorup.

Testimonials

Anna was a fantastic teacher. She was always open to answering any and all questions, even when I asked a bit too many questions. Her feedback on assignments helped me think of better storylines and improve in my general creativity, which I’m really happy about. My general feedback on the class is I wish I had taken it sooner. This was a fantastic intro to pilot writing. I’m looking forward to the draft intensive and am taking it partly because it is taught by Anna too!

I have loved being in Anna’s class. She is so positive and has really boosted my self esteem as compared to other courses I have taken. She is clear and concise. A great leader. She is funny, and her understanding of the work and processes are amazing. I am hoping she will never stop teaching. I am taking her next class. She is very positive and gentle with her suggestions.
